ANZAC Biscuits (Cookies)

Description: These biscuits (cookies) are named after the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, a famous army corps from World War I. These cookies were made during the war because they used fewer ingredients and they shipped well due to the fact that the cookies were harder. Try them they are good!

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups uncooked Rolled Oats (Oatmeal)
  • 1 Cup Flour
  • 1 TBSP Golden Syrup or Molasses
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 125 gms (1 stick) butter – melted.
  • 1 tsp Bi Carb of Soda (Baking Soda)
  • 2 TBSP Boiling Water

Method

  1. Combine the oats, sugar, flour and melt together.
  2. Then add the golden syrup,
  3. Dissolve the BiCarb in the boiling water.
  4. Put spoonsful of the mixture on a tray lined with baking paper and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 15-20 minutes or until cooked a golden-brown colour and crispy.
